ERROR: Statistics disappeared

Some users have reported that all their statistics (historical data) suddenly disappear.

This can be caused by a severe PC crash, which corrupts the file that BitMeter uses to store this data - BitMeterHistory.xml

Prospects for recovering the data after this happens are not good, however if you have a system backup that includes the BitMeterHistory.xml file then you can just stop BitMeter, replace the corrupt file with the one from your backup, and your data should be restored.

BitMeter OS (the next version of BitMeter) addresses this issue by storing historical data in a much more robust way, using a crash-resistant database called SQLite.

Something occurred with my computer a few days ago and my BitMeter II history was cleared, as a result I only have history for the mast few days.

Despite this the history in BitMeter II does show dates back to when I installed the program (although it is all 0's).

- Is it possible the history file still contains the data (since the history file still has the dates)?
- Is it possible to merge a previous history file (which has most of most of the missing data) with the current history file by manually inserting or editing into the history file? or Export or Import?
- What is the format of the history file?

Thank you for your help.

I think if you don't see the data its gone, sorry!
Its possible to manually edit the history file but its a fiddly process - the file format is detailed here

hope that helps

Thank you for your help.

I had the history from a previous computer (~2 weeks ago) and was able to copy in the available missing data to the appropriate locations in the current History file, so I'm only missing several days in between.

For some reason my history has gone too. I opened the history xml file but mostly 0's. :(
