Audio Settings

The Audio Settings feature can be used to configure BitMeter to produce an audible tone to indicate your current transfer speed, allowing you to monitor the state of your connection while away from your PC. Audio Notification can run in one of two modes:

If the Time Intervals mode is selected then the following options are displayed:

Audio Settings - Time Intervals

In this mode a tone is produced at regular time intervals (for example once every second) with the pitch of the tone indicating your current speed. A 'slow beep' (a low tone) is produced if your speed is below a certain threshold, a 'fast beep' (a high tone) is produced if your speed is above a certain threshold, and a medium tone is produced if your speed falls between the two. The slow/medium/fast boundaries are configurable via the screen shown above, as is the type of traffic which is monitored (download traffic, upload traffic or both).

If the Volume mode is selected then the following options are displayed:

Audio Settings - Volume

In Volume mode a tone is produced each time a given volume of data is transferred. The amount of data required to produce a tone is configurable on the screen above, and the direction (upload, download or combined) can also be specified.
